The Art of Still Life, 12th April 2025 (10am - 4pm)

£75.00

Join Richard Kitson in his studio for a day of painting and drawing still life.

Artists such as Cezanne, Van Gogh and Euan Uglow have used objects to create paintings of startling originality. Whether sentimental, functional or even edible, artists through their knowledge of composition can raise everyday objects into works of art.

This course is ideal if you are looking to simplify and freshen up your approach to oil painting. It is also a great way to refine your approach to colour mixing and use of composition. The techniques you practice in this workshop can be applied to any painting project you undertake.

What you will learn…

  • How to make accurate drawings of shape and proportion

  • How to plan a composition and to transfer a composition from a drawing to a painting

  • Learn to apply basic colour theory to the mixing of colours and to capture a sense of light, shade and texture

  • How to work with a limited colour palette to describe objects from life

An opportunity not to be missed!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size of Richard’s studio, workshops are limited to four people. Please see future dates for when the workshop is repeated.
